PAYMENTS & RELIABILITY

When a charge doesn't go as planned

Why payment, energy delivered and remaining value need to be checked together.

Electric vehicle charging

Payment and charging are different events

A provider may confirm a payment before a charger accepts a start command. The platform needs to track both events separately and avoid treating a failed charge as a completed service.

Keep the transaction reference

If a charge does not start or ends unexpectedly, keep the payment reference, station ID and approximate time. Avoid making repeated payments while the first transaction is still uncertain. Never send a card number, PIN or payment password to support.

Remaining value needs a durable record

Wouri's planned design records paid value, value reserved for a session, actual consumption and the final remaining amount. Finalisation depends on the tariff and reliable session data. A balance, credit, refund or other resolution must be governed by the payment arrangement and service terms.

Why cloud-first matters

A reusable balance cannot safely be spent at disconnected stations without additional mechanisms to prevent the same value being used twice. Wouri is starting with a cloud-first model. Temporary disconnections need controlled charger behaviour and later reconciliation; they do not create a fully offline reusable wallet.

Clear uncertainty before closing a case

If metering or provider status is missing, the system should preserve the records and show that the result is pending reconciliation. Recovery needs an audit trail. Final customer-facing refund rules and service commitments will be published before charging is made available.

Wouri is in development. Pilot locations, payment providers and launch timing will be announced after validation.
